We’re no exception, although the secrecy is mostly because we keep forgetting to tell anyone. The regular panelists throw down on some of America’s favorite habitual wearers of hats. Episode 12: Family Restaurants

We embrace, now, meaning by “we” the regular cast plus Tom “mathpunk” Henderson, a phenomenon which is dual in nature: that of the restaurants attended by families, and of the restaurants owned and operated by “families.” So that’s kind of a giveaway for one of the things we discuss. Actually it gives away all of them, but in a really vague sense that you can’t really call “giving away.”

This show is pretty long. That’s okay, you can pause it – it’s a podcast! The epic corporate-history battle at the end is worth it. Tip your waitresses!

A live studio audience augments this show featuring Christen McCurdy and guests Tom Henderson, Bryan Bingold and Doruk Özaydın. Discussed are Chinese dissidents, nationalist rivalries in or near the seat of civilization, and more serious topics, like obscure manga. Nobody involved seems to be 100% clear on what pastries are, but 90% is pretty good, right?

There is a distracting noise issue during portions of the program – the audience thing is throwing us a few curve balls and we are still unsure how to address this. As always we thank you for your patience.

Episode 9: TEEN HYSTERIA

Discussed are the Salem witch trials, LSD, the Comics Code Authority, and various secrets and codes. Not discussed whatsoever are rainbow parties.

From the heart of caffeine, beer, and meth country comes a podcast that discusses none of these. We have more serious chemicals to discuss, such as paint fumes, Portland tap water, and meth. Okay, we do talk about meth. A little. Join us, and you’ll see that as the regular panelists continue, the probability that Judy Garland will be compared to Hitler approaches one.

Episode 6: Hair

Where there is hair, there is culture and disgust, therefore there are the regular TAMF panelists plus special guest Jess Rude. Discussed (see what I did there) are topics including bezoars, the Han Dynasty, variants on Rule 34, and made-for-TV movies that might have been fever dreams.

There is a lot of microphone noise in this show – it was impossible to get rid of all of it. We are taking steps to avoid this in the future. Thanks for your patience as we learn to do this thing a little better each time.

The regulars, with Mark Bergo whom we would start counting as a regular by now if he had a web page we could link to, winnow the vast field of detective fiction down to an expertly editorial selection of random things we wrote questions about. Subjects run the gamut from Lord Peter Wimsey to Captain Nazi. Prepare to be thrilled.
